Our Mission

TrueEV was founded in Victoria, BC with a clear mission – to connect Canadians across the country through frequent and affordable charging stations. We are dedicated to helping you install charging infrastructure in your home or business. Our expert team of engineers, electricians and project managers are excited to guide you through each step of the process.

Creating a Clean Future

Long before modern technology and science, Indigenous people created complex systems to thrive off the land while caring for and maintaining it in turn. This landscape was a result of thousands of years of land management by Indigenous people. Indigenous people are a necessary part of the solution, just as much as any other person. Canada needs to recognize the need for the inclusion of our nations in the implementation of an EV infrastructure.

A new narrative is needed which recognizes both the traditional and dynamic nature of our world today, ultimately ensuring equity is given to both the individual and community at the heart of every development. We believe all people have a leading role to play in shaping alternative paradigms to mainstream economic models that are destroying the environment and traditional cultures.

True EV aims to connect Canadian communities with fast, frequent and affordable charging stations in alignment with SDG Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. As Canada moves towards a future of zero-emission vehicles, major infrastructure upgrades are required. True EV was created to help businesses, homeowners and government organizations upgrade their current infrastructure.

CEO & Owner - Derek Douglas

CEO

Derek Douglas

Derek seeks to serve his communities by invoking the greatness from each individual so the world can experience their unlimited potential. His education focused on social & counseling psychology, leading him to develop multiple initiatives involved in helping people improve their mental and physical well-being. When he was only twenty, the growth of his venture required him to go overseas to inspect his manufacturing facilities ensuring proper safety and fair labor standards were upheld, drafted legal contracts with international parties to negotiate closed-loop supply chains, and secured competitive procurement opportunities between private and public sectors. His Indigenous roots within the wolf clan of Oneida Nation of the Thames taught him the importance of fostering an environment where people can speak their truth. This led him to create the popular Campus Conversations hosted at the local Multifaith Centre and Potluck Pals in Victoria BC.
